Chemical Process Using Electric Current

Chemical process using electric current commonly called as electrochemical, but for general people this name may don’t familiar. Named by Electrochemical because on the process involved the chemicals and electrical, so the whole process called as electrochemical. Electrochemical is not just happened in plant or industry or laboratory, this process also always happened in nature. This process can go and trigger by any different voltage surround the chemicals substance. The different voltage on the environment of certain substance can Electrochemical Cell cause the reaction happened. For example the process of corrode, because of any voltage different make iron that stick to copper can be corroded faster than other metal that don’t stacked to copper metal. This condition used to happen on Air Conditioner tubing. Other metal in AC corroded faster than other iron on other product. Now this condition have been avoided by replace the metal with plastic material. On the process of e

Piling Sulfur Can Be Dangerous

If you have huge of sulfur, usually this material will be piled in somewhere. But you must be carefure to keep this material in better condition because sometimes on unsuitable condition this sulfur can be very flammable because they are reacted with atmosphere air. Some precaution on storing sulfur should be attention like don't make this material hot or rise temperature pile make the sulfur can react with air into other flammable substance like Hidrogen Sulfide (H2S) or react with air become Sulfur dioxide (SO2). Even the fire exist because of this reaction is not big but the effect of burning of gas H2S can create SO2 gas that is dangerous to our live. People can't stand long time on the existance of this gas, so if huge gas exist on the atmosphere can make people collapse because shortage of oxygen and irritant effect on the our respiratory system. On the storage must avoid from mixing with chlorate and nitrate agent, or other oxidizing agent because this sulfur can c

Asbestos Already Banned

The using of asbestos material is banned in several countries, because of several cases have founded people sick because of asbestos effect. Since asbestos related disease has been identified by medical profession in the late 1920s, workers compensation cases were filed and resolved in secrecy, with a flood of litigation starting in the United States in the 1970s. Mainly in individually brought cases for terminal cases of asbestosis and cancers. Some countries that already banned using of asbestos material as follows: International law Australia Brazil Canada France India Italy Japan South Korea New Zealand United Kingdom United States And some diseases have known causes by asbestos as below: Asbestosis - A lung disease first found in textile workers, asbestosis is a scarring of the lung tissue from an acid produced by the body's attempt to dissolve the fibers. The scarring may eventually become so severe that the lungs can no longer function. The latency period

POPs Chemical Workshop

POPs is pertinent organic chemicals, mean many chemicals include on this cathegory. General people will don't know this chemical because this kind of chemical is not include in the study, I mean cathegorized chemical in such kind like that. In lecture usually only familiar with kind of chemical like organic or unorganic chemicals, or include on metal or non metal this cathegorized is just for differentiate when study about metal characteristic. So POPs will be a new knowledge for general student if they never read this knowledge, they will don't understand this. POPs chemical is forbiden include on other chemical or use in industry to help the process, because this pollutant will retain in the human body if can enter the body through many kind of ways. This pertinent chemicals pollutant then can make disseases of disturbance body organ work like kidney, lung, hearth, brain, pancreas and many others body organ. Stockholm convension about POPs have been perform three tim

Stockholm Convention about POPs

Today I follow a workshop of POPs that part of Stockholm covention in Jakarta arrange by Ministry of environtment. POPs is not about music or trending model, this is a Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that are chemical substances that persist in the environment, bioaccumulate through the food web, and pose a risk of causing adverse effects to human health and the environment. This group of priority pollutants consists of pesticides (such as DDT), industrial chemicals (such as polychlorinated biphenyls, PCBs) and unintentional by-products of industrial processes (such as dioxins and furans).  Persistent Organic Pollutants are transported across international boundaries far from their sources, even to regions where they have never been used or produced. The ecosystems and indigenous people of the Arctic are particularly at risk because of the long-range environmental transportation and bio-magnification of these substances. Consequently, persistent organic pollutants pose a threat

Sulfur Dioxide in Food

We know that Sulfur Dioxide is poisonouos gasses but why this substance can found in food. Is this good to eat? Sulfur dioxide is one of sulfite, a preservative whose name might be more familiar, that is why this substance can be available inside the food usually preservative food. A small amount of sulfite can wreak health havoc of you're sensitive to it. If we have asthma, sulfite sensitivity or sulfite allergy, eating dried fruits might cause serious health problems, including breathing problems. Dried fruits are among the food highest in sulfites, with raisins and prunes containing between 500 to 2000 ppm, compare to wine that may contain sulfites only 20 to 350 ppm. As the regulation of US Food and Drug Administration mandates that foods containing more than 10 ppm of sulfites must list this information on the food label. Each countries have different standard of sulfite contain in food, Australian government limits sulfite in food to 3000 ppm, while British government

Asbestos Legislation

Legislation about asbestos in each country already settle, and each country have their own regulation about using asbestos. To enforce of the compliance to the regulation, some country using many aid like OHS enforcement and safety officer. The Asbestos-related Claims (Management of Commonwealth Liabilities) Act 2005 provides for Comcare to assume and manage the common law asbestos-related conditions liabilities of the Australian Government and, with certain exceptions, its agencies and controlled companies. Type of enforcement to comply with this regulation through several ways such as follows. There are a range of enforcement actions that may be applied by Comcare when OHS legislative obligations are not met by duty holders. All employers, employees and other parties who have duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991 (OHS Act) are subject to the compliance, enforcement and penalty provisions of the OHS Act. The maximum penalty for criminal breaches of the OH
